Betty B. Alford

1935-2006

Betty Barnette Alford, 71, of Osyka, died Oct. 11, 2006, at her residence.

Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb and continues 9 a.m. Friday at Osyka Baptist Church until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Milton Kliesch and Bro. Wayne Vinson will officiate. Burial will be in Osyka Cemetery.

Mrs. Alford was born Sept. 29, 1935, in Wiggins, to Alton and Katimae Campbell Barnette.

She was a longtime resident of McComb before moving to Osyka. She was the retired owner and operator of Milady’s Beauty Salon, where she worked from 1971 to 1990.

Mrs. Alford was a member of Osyka Baptist Church. She was a life master bridge player and a member of the American Contract Bridge Association.

Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kathie Johnson.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Howard Ellis Alford of Osyka; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike Alford and his friend Daniel Rau of Arlington, Va., and David and Beth Alford, and Jerry and Brenda Alford, all of Osyka; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy Alford Moffit and Eddie of Magnolia and Karen Alford Lindsey of Ridgeland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Charlene Barnette of Clinton, and Aubrey and Naomi Barnette of Raymond; grandsons, Jarrod Alford and wife Shannon of Christiansburg, Va., Aaron Alford of Memphis, Tenn., Rob Alford of Osyka, and Michael Lindsey and Jake Alford, both of Hattiesburg; granddaughters, Rachel Camp and husband Jason of McComb, Mandi Shoemake and husband Marc of Summit, Elizabeth Lindsey and Allison Lindsey, both of Ridgeland, and Samantha Ferguson of Magnolia; four great-granddaughters, Madeline Alford, Andi Hampton and Emily Alford, all of Osyka, and Kaylee Erwin of Summit; and two great-grandsons, Julian Erwin of Summit and Benjamin Hendricks of Lakeland, Ga.

Pallbearers will be Jarrod Alford, Jake Alford, Aaron Alford, Rob Alford, Michael Lindsey, Jason Camp and Marc Shoemake.
