Judith “Judie” Lawson Boyd, 63, of McComb, died May 31, 2008 at her home following a lengthy illness. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb and continues Monday from 9 a.m. until services at 11, with Dr. David Millican and Rev. Bob Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood cemetery.

Mrs. Boyd was born Nov. 20, 1944 in Yelm, Wash., to Mervin and Frances Stancil Lawson. She was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. She was a retired and dedicated school teacher with 15 years service with the Tangipahoa Parish Schools, teaching third grade beginning at Spring Creek Elementary and later at Kentwood Elementary, where she retired in 1995. She was a member of South McComb Baptist Church, where, before her illness she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and being involved in many church activities.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ernie Lawson. She is survived by her husband of nearly 44 years, Robert T. Boyd, Jr. of McComb; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert T. Boyd, III and and Mervin Boyd and Elly Boyd, all of McComb and David Boyd and Alisa of Vicksburg; three granddaughters, Shoncye, Jordan and Anna Kathleen; one sister, Dixie Canton and husband, Gary; one brother, Jimmy Lawson and wife, Judy and a special friend and neighbor, Peggy Roberts.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Saucier, Stacey Saucier, Harold Williams, Paul Smith, Damon Wallace and John Rayborn. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Polk, Glen Polk, Leslie Hutson and Ken Pouns.

I hadn't had the opportunity to see or talk to Judie in so many years and how I wish I could have. I will never forget her quick wit, charm and great personality. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you who were closest to her...I know you will miss her dearly.
