Shirley Mote Dickerson
1954-2008
Shirley Mote Dickerson, 54, of the Tangipahoa community in Amite
County, died June 19, 2008, at her home after a lengthy and
courageous battle with cancer. Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at
Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb and 10 a.m. Saturday until
services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Mike Morris officiating. Burial was
in Whittington cemetery.
Mrs. Dickerson was born Feb. 11, 1954. She was the daughter of James
Mote and Mary Lee Mote Nail. She was a member of Tangipahoa Baptist
Church.
Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her father. She is survived
by her husband of 35 years, James V. Dickerson, Sr. of the
Tangipahoa community; her mother and stepfather, Mary Lee Mote Nail
and Bill of Brandon; a son and daughter-in-law, James V. Dickerson,
Jr. and Donna of the Tangipahoa community; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Kim and Rick Lanterman of the Tangipahoa community and
Erica and Robbie Hall of Brandon; two brothers and sisters-in-law,
Willis and Rachel Boyd of McComb and Jimmy and Becky Mote of
Kentucky; two sisters, Sarah Roberts of Brandon and Janet Nobles of
Magnolia; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy
Dickerson of the Tangipahoa community; a brother-in-law and his
wife, Robert and Sylvia Dickerson of the Tangipahoa community; a
special niece, Angela Dickerson of the Tangipahoa community and
numerous other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers were Shane Roberts, Derrick Roberts, Talmadge Roberts, Jason
Boyd, Chris Dickerson and Dewayne Dickerson. Honorary pallbearers were David
Travis, Darren Wroten and Mitch Hudspeth.
