Eulalie Schneider Hughes, 89, life-long resident of McComb, died May 12, 2006, at Beachman Memorial Hospital in Magnolia.Visitation is 2 p.m. today at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb until the services there at 3 p.m. The Rev. Lane Stephenson will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Hughes was born Sept. 1, 1916, to Joseph Emil Schneider and Eulalie Youngblood Schneider.
Mrs. Hughes was a life-long member of J.J. White Memorial Presbyterian Church and a graduate of McComb High School and Southwest Mississippi Junior College. She was a member of the Crescite Club of 58 years and a member of the McComb Garden Club and the Flower Lovers Club. Although she was not a diabetic, she was an active member of the American Diabetes Association and received the volunteer recognition award from the American Diabetic Association for 1993-94. She and her late husband were interested in camellias and were known for their knowledge and love of camellias and promoting their interest in McComb.
Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Noel Hughes and a sister, Barbara Schneider Hayman.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Noel Hughes Jr. and Jo Ann of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Jo Hughes Ladner and John of Lumbertown; two sisters, Lillian Schneider Lamkin and Emily Schneider Austin; a brother-in-law, Thomas B. Austin, all of McComb; a grandson, Lt. Col. John Scott Ladner and his wife Kathie Ladner; a granddaughter, Vicki Lil Rutland and husband Rusty; six great-grandchildren, Michelle, Amanda and Michael Ladner and John, Lane and Joe Lee Rutland and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Scott Ladner, Lee Hugh Hayman, Rusty Rutland, Hugh Ray Hughes, Michael Austin and Kramer Austin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Wendell Holmes Sr., Sam Polles,
Bob Tyler, Steve Adcock and Al Tuck.
