James William Griffin
1939-2008
James William Griffin, 68, of the Enon community, died June 19, 2008, at his home. Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral home in McComb, then 10 a.m. Saturday until services there at 3 p.m. The Rev. David Hedden will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Griffin was born Sept. 27, 1939, in Pike County to James Clifton and
Willene Lawrence Griffin. He was a retired production operator for Transco
and Hess Oil companies with more than 23 years combined service. He was a
member of Enon Baptist Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David
Griffin. Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Nell Smith Griffin
of Enon; one son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Stephanie Griffin of Enon;
three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Louis Boyd, and Julia and
Terry Boyd, all of Enon, and Naomi and Brent Daniel of Monticello; seven
grandchildren, Haley Boyd, Nicole Boyd, Andrew Griffin, Natalie Boyd,
Jessica Griffin, Eric Boyd and Will Daniel; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee
Griffin; two sisters-in-law, Paula Griffin of Enon and Katherine Morgan and
her husband Jerry of Westwego, La.; two brothers-in-law, Elton Smith and his
wife Sherry of Sardis, and Milton Smith and his spouse Kay of Smithdale; a
special friend, Melvin Spencer of Enid, Okla.; and numerous nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Louis Boyd, Brent Daniel, Terry Boyd, Chad Griffin, Eric
Boyd and Andrew Griffin.
