Ira Westbrook Nettles

Ira Westbrook Nettles, 85, of Covington, La., died there July 17, 2006, at Lakeview Hospital, of heart failure.

Visitation is 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb until services there at 11:30 a.m. Elder Randal Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Nettles Family Cemetery in Franklin County.

Mrs. Nettles was born Dec. 15, 1920, in Smithdale. She was the daughter of Albert Sidney and Birdie Fleming Westbrook.

She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Franklin County.

Mrs. Nettles was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Prentiss B. Nettles; an infant daughter, Alice Virginia; three sisters, Breness Gill, Doris Myers and Maxine Nettles; and one brother, Ewell Westbrook.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Houston Nettles and Eleonore of River Ridge, La., and Prentiss B. Nettles Jr. and Rhetta of Covington; one brother and sister-in-law, Joel S. Westbrook and Eleanor of Meadville; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margie Williams, Naida Gill, Cornell Burke and her husband Charles, Bobbie Calcote and Wilma Martin and her husband Bob; and three grandchildren, Grant, Damon and Christen Nettles.

Pallbearers will be Prentiss Nettles, C. Houston Nettles, Grant Nettles, Damon Nettles, Clint Martin and Stewart Graffia.
