Charles Ray Wilkinson

Charles Ray Wilkinson, 85, of McComb, died Aug. 21, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb and 8 a.m. Wednesday until services there at 9 a.m. The Rev. Tracy Hipps and the Rev. Bob Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.
Mr. Wilkinson was born Jan. 14, 1921, in McComb, to Bonnie and Audrey Emma Dunn Wilkinson.
He was a retired store clerk from the Illinois Central Railroad, where he worked for 31 years. He had been a member of Central Baptist Church of McComb since the early 1940s.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his grandchildren and making wood crafts for them, family and friends.
Mr. Wilkinson was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elizabeth Van; and a brother, Phillip Wilkinson.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Opal Lee O’Neal Wilkinson of McComb; a daughter, Judy Swarts of Denham Springs, La.; three grandchildren, Skeeter Swarts and his wife Greta, Kristy Hubbard and her husband Bo, and Jeremy Swarts and his wife Kimberly, all of Denham Springs; four great-grandchildren, Randi Swarts, Toni Swarts, Trey Hubbard and Cameron Swarts, all of Denham Springs; four special friends, Buford Cook, Henry Anderson, Gordon Alexander and Rayford Kirkland; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Louis Roberts, Jerry Van, Ike Fesmire, Jimmie Van Jr., Ronnie Wilkinson and Justin Van. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Church Builder Sunday School Class.
