Ira Lee Adams

Ira Lee Adams, 91, of Smithdale, died Feb. 27, 2006, at Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty.
Visitation is 4 to 8 tonight at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb. Visitation continues at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Smithdale, until services there at 11 a.m. Brother Joey Barnard and Brother Burnett Carraway will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Adams was born May 12, 1914, in Amite County to John Q. Adams and Beulah Fletcher Adams.
He was a retired dairy farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a longtime member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He loved and was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Carraway Adams; his parents; three sisters, Thelma, Lilly Mae and Johnnie; and two brothers, Alton and James.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Danny “Buck” Adams and Bonnie of Smithdale; two daughters and sons-in-law, Iris “Dimple” Walker and Wesley of Bossier City, La., and Janice Tumey and Sam of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters and their husbands, Paige and Reid Carlisle of Shreveport, La., and Becky and Greg Knight of Liberty; three grandsons and their wives, Scott and Jodie Walker of El Dorado, La., Tod and Kelli Tumey of Houston, La., and Corey and Caprice Tumey of Houston, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Adam and John Walker Carlisle, Juliet and Truette Tumey, Wes Walker and Gracie Knight.
Pallbearers will be Scott Walker, Tod Tumey, Reid Carlisle, Greg Knight, Adam Carlisle and David Whittington.
